Nominations are now open
Community Grants will be made in the Spring and Autumn of each year. Due to the number of nominations we receive we can only respond to successful nominations when we announce grant giving in Spring and Autumn.
Due to the Cost of Living Crisis, we have amended our Community Fund grants to a maximum of £5,000.
Nomination criteria
In order to make a nomination for funding, your charity must meet the following criteria:
- Charitable organisation based within the Northeast of England, Cumbria, or North Yorkshire within a 10-mile radius of a Newcastle Building Society branch
- The project must align with one of our charitable themes - debt management, employability, sustainability and the environment, or working to tackle food poverty, or insecure housing and homelessness.
- The charity must not exceed £1million in income for the previous reporting period
- Nominations can only be made by Newcastle Building Society members and colleagues
We cannot fund requests to support:
- Contributions to general appeals or circulars
- Religious or political activity which is not for wider public benefit
- Public bodies to carry out their statutory obligations
- Activities which solely support animal welfare
- Activities which have already taken place
- Grant making by other organisations
- Privately owned and profit-distributing companies or limited partnerships
- Commercial/profit making ventures
